Skin Talks

I became a doctor because my maternal grandfather, who loved me like no other, instilled in me the belief that I was born to be a doctor. When my parents and relatives would ask me, ‘What do you want to become when you grow up?’ I don’t remember saying anything but ‘doctor’.
In college, I thought I’d be a paediatrician. During my internship in Paediatrics, a 10-year-old boy who I had really grown fond of, died due to leukemia and that left a lasting impact on me. The idea of pursuing my post graduation in paediatrics was dropped instantaneously. I cannot see children in pain.
While all of us—and I repeat ALL of us—are concerned about our skin on some level or the other, we’re also taught at the same time that such concerns are ‘shallow’ and ‘superficial.’ Beauty is skin deep, we are told. While I believe that true beauty lies within an individual and not outside, such broad generalizations take away from the fact that skin issues can have a very debilitating effect on our psyche.

You will find that through the book, I have narrated real life case histories which you will probably be able to relate to and which will help you understand your skin better so that you don’t get lost when you go to the cosmetic store to buy your skin care product. I have tried to unveil the enemies of skin, so that you can be on guard. Your skin care needs to change with every season and with age. I hope by the time you finish reading this book, you would be able to fight all the seasonal skin problems and beat the age factor.

This book is an attempt to bust myths about skin care and guide you towards healthy, glowing skin. It will make you realize that anyone and everyone can protect their skin against the ravages of age and time, with the right battle plan.
So what are you waiting for? It’s time to let your skin blossom.
